Anyone looking for a quilting destination brimming with history, heart, and community spirit, need look no further than The Quilting Bee, Inc in Spokane Valley, Washington.
With nearly five decades of stitching stories and four generations of owners, this store has woven itself into the fabric of the local quilting world.
From its humble beginnings in 1978 as a small quilt shop founded by Mary Moltke, The Quilting Bee has grown into a must-visit destination for quilters across the Northwest.
Along the way, it has embraced new owners, new ideas, and a beautiful barn-themed building that perfectly captures its quilting charm.
The Evolution of a Quilting Landmark
Over the years, The Quilting Bee has been lovingly transformed by each generation of owners.
In 1984, Jackie Wolff took the helm, adding Bernina sewing machines and moving the store to a larger location.
She even taught quilting classes — one of which changed the store’s history forever. One of her students, Treasure Auble, later became the third owner.
Treasure and her husband, Scot, brought fresh energy to the business when they took over in 2011, culminating in the store’s move to its current quilt barn-inspired location in 2017.
Picture this: a red barn adorned with a quilt block on the outside and rows of fabric inside, punctuated by picket fence shelves and “street signs” to help you navigate the fabric wonderland.
In 2022, Better Homes & Gardens Quilt Sampler Magazine named The Quilting Bee a Top 10 Quilt Shop, solidifying its status as a quilting paradise worth visiting.
Now, the store is under the passionate care of Sara and Devin Cassan, who are excited to carry on its legacy and bring new innovations to the community.
The Quilting Bee is far more than a place to shop — it’s an experience.

I can find pretty much anything that I need for items that I make. I am not a quilter, but I make bags and other items from quilting cotton. Love this establishment.
Love the Quilting Bee!!!
