Ever Googled something on a whim and had it change your life? That’s exactly how Cut Up & Sew found its first home in Palm Coast.
A simple search for “Quilt shops for sale in Florida” led to the perfect spot, and by November 2021, the doors were open, welcoming a thriving sewing community.
Then, in 2022, fate stepped in again. They met the owner of Bee’s Quilt Shop and developed a friendship. When she was ready to retire, it was another moment of perfect timing.

Cut Up & Sew was ready to grow and the St. Augustine location opened its doors in November 2024. Talk about the stars — and stitches — aligning!
They needed more than luck when they won the NEW Creative Hub Award.
Their customers’ thoughtful comments about the community and inspiration they found at Cut Up and Sew drew attention to this incredible shop.
The comments tell a story with a clear picture — this shop is definitely a Creative Hub.
“This has been amazing for our stores. It has given us even more love and appreciation for our customers. The support they have shown us is humbling and very special. It means the absolute world to us.” — Joshua McLean on the impact of the contest
Sew Much More Than a Quilt Shop
Joshua and Shan McLean took over Cut Up & Sew in 2021, bringing with them six years of experience in the sewing industry and a passion for creating.
With Joshua’s background in oil painting, it wasn’t long before art quilting and thread painting became an integral part of the shop’s creative atmosphere.
But beyond the art, Cut Up & Sew is all about community, charity sewing, and inspiring people to pick up a needle and thread.
The motto? “Live to Create” – and that’s exactly what happens every day inside these walls.

The Palm Coast shop is a crafter’s dream, with nearly 4,000 square feet of space, a huge classroom, and over 3,500 bolts of fabric.

The St. Augustine location might be cozier at 2,000 square feet, but with 2,500 bolts of fabric and a professional quilting service, it’s a powerhouse of creativity.
And for those who can’t pop into the store, everything is available online at CutUpandSew.com.
It’s not just about selling fabric and machines (though they do that, too — Babylock, Janome, and Bernina, with service on all brands).
It’s about the classes, the clubs, the events, and the friendships formed over shared stitches.
From total beginners to seasoned pros, there’s something for everyone. The Cut Up & Sew Crew is eight clubs strong, and classes run nearly every day of the year.
Customers don’t just stop by to shop — they become part of something bigger.
One customer put it best:
“This place is the cornerstone of the sewing community. It’s full of laughter, friendships, and loving support.
Every town should have a place like Cut Up & Sew!”
