Just in its first year of business, Silver State Stitch Shop has overcome so much.

Owner Jessica Whittaker underwent many personal challenges, but stayed strong in her dedication to the sewing community in Boulder City.

With an exciting upcoming move to the building she worked at throughout college, Jessica has been busy!

In the 2025 Local Quilt Shop Contest, voters took notice of Jessica’s devotion and began writing in.

2025 Voters’ Comments

“The owner, Jessica, takes the time to know each of her customers and makes you feel welcome in her store.” Samantha

“I met Jessica while we both were volunteering at a quilt show. We felt an immediate bond and she made volunteering even more fun. When she said she was going to open up a quilt shop, I was so excited for her.” — Jeanine

“Jessica takes her time to explain things in a way that you will understand.

Even when the shop is busy, I feel like I am the only customer because of the great customer service.” Barbara

After reading these comments, it became increasingly obvious that Jessica has already built a strong quilting community — in just her first year of business.

That is why Silver State Stitch Shop earned the brand NEW Creative Hub Award.

And sew it begins!

Nestled in a cozy corner of a business park in Boulder City, NV, Silver State Stitch Shop officially opened its doors on May 1, 2024.

It’s the dream-turned-reality of Jessica, a passionate quilter who waited patiently for just the right space

— one that could hold not only her love for quilting and cross stitch but also a classroom and her beloved longarm machine, Lucy.

From day one, this shop has been more than just a place to pick up fabric and thread. It’s a haven for sewists of all levels.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just dipping your toes into the world of quilting and cross stitch, the shop is filled with both modern and traditional inspiration to get those creative gears turning.

Plus, with a growing lineup of classes and a welcoming atmosphere, there’s always something new to learn and explore.

And let’s talk about Lucy — the longarm machine that hums away, helping customers bring their quilted masterpieces to life.

The longarm service is just one way the shop helps make sure that projects don’t get stuck in the dreaded “unfinished pile.”

A Tight-Knit Community of Quilters & Stitchers

While Jessica may be the shop’s only official employee, she’s anything but alone.

A “framily” (that’s friends + family!) of talented quilters and stitchers are always around to lend a hand, offer advice, and keep the creative energy flowing.

Many of them have known Jessica since she first picked up a needle at the age of 18. Their collective knowledge makes the shop feel like a warm, welcoming quilting bee every single day.

Jessica’s love for quilting started right here in Boulder City when she worked in a quilt shop as a teenager (at the very location to which she is moving).

Now she’s come full circle, creating that same kind of experience for others.

The Silver State Stitch Shop isn’t just about fabric and floss; it’s about fostering creativity, connection, and a deep appreciation for the craft.

Life has thrown some unexpected challenges Jessica’s way since opening the shop, but the outpouring of support from her “quilty tribe” and new customers alike has been nothing short of heartwarming.

From sewcial events to everyday shop visits, this community continues to show up, lift each other up, and keep the stitches (and friendships) strong.

Whether you’re looking for a fresh new hobby, finishing up a treasured quilt, or just craving some good conversation with fellow crafters, Silver State Stitch Shop is the place to be. Stop by, get inspired, and let’s keep the thread of creativity running strong!

Definitely Worth a “Dam”

While sewists may visit Boulder City for their incredible quilt shop, the average visitor stops in on their way to the Hoover Dam.

Boulder City is known for their historic buildings, beautiful parks, and absence of legalized gambling. That might be a positive or a negative trait depending on the person!

If you’re getting the itch for some slots, Las Vegas is just a short drive away.

Don’t worry, there’s still lot’s of fun to be had in Boulder City itself!

Lake Mead — the lake formed by the Hoover Dam — provides plenty of boating, swimming, and water sports opportunities for visitors.

Jessica’s personal recommendations for must-stop eateries are the world famous Coffee Cup, Fox’s BBQ, Southwest Diner, and the Pitstop. The luckiest visitors might even see bighorn sheep grazing in a local park!
