Stitched on 2nd (stitchedon2nd.com) in charming Gold Hill, Oregon is the 2024 Regional Winner for Oregon. This adorable quilt shop is the result of a serendipitous meeting between two entrepreneurial spirits, Suzanne and Janet, who have woven their individual passions into a vibrant and thriving business.

Suzanne and Janet first crossed paths while working at another quilt shop, but they each had their own home-based ventures. Suzanne was busy with her custom bedding and alteration services, while Janet focused on her longarm quilting business. As their side hustles flourished, they decided to unite their talents and open their own studio. The result? Stitched on 2nd, a place that’s become a beacon for quilters in the region.

Their shop’s journey began with a simple yet profound mission: to bring together their expertise and serve the quilting community. As curiosity about their work grew, so did the demand for sewing classes and supplies. This natural progression led to the addition of a BERNINA dealership and the acquisition of two adjoining storefronts. One now houses their classroom space, and the other showcases their bustling quilt shop.

Walking into Stitched on 2nd, you’re greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like a quilt show all on its own. Described by customers as light-filled, bright, and cozy, the shop embodies the charm and vibrancy that Suzanne and Janet have infused into every square inch of their 1800-square-foot space.

Inside, you’ll find everything a quilting and embroidery enthusiast could dream of: sewing machines, accessories, machine embroidery supplies, longarm quilting services, and a wide range of quilting supplies. It’s a one-stop-shop that caters to all your quilting needs, but it’s the personal touch that really sets Stitched on 2nd apart.

Customers have been singing the praises of Suzanne and Janet, highlighting their dedication and the genuine sense of community they’ve fostered.

Luanne shared her heartfelt experience, saying, “The first retreat I attended at the shop, the people were so very welcoming and included me in all the fun! I don’t make friends easily, but these ladies all made me feel at home. I’m new to the area and I have found my quilting home.” That sense of belonging is a vital aspect of what makes Stitched on 2nd so special.

Kellie echoed this sentiment, praising the shop’s ability to create a supportive community through classes and shared spaces. “I love the ladies who own and operate this shop…They’ve really created a sense of community by providing classes and a space for sewists of all sorts to learn, share and grow.”

Given the glowing feedback from their customers, it’s no surprise that Stitched on 2nd has won this year’s Local Quilt Shop Contest!
