“I was having trouble matching fabric for a special quilt and Matty, a sales associate, took me under her wing and helped to complete what I needed. It was an amazing quilt with the right help. Knowledge was everything!”

For those who have not seen the store, please describe it.
Our store in Spokane Valley, WA was custom built to emanate the look and feel of an old-fashioned red-sided barn. It features the largest sewing, embroidery, and quilting machine selection, quilting fabric selection (7000+ bolts), and machine repair and service department in the region. It also has the largest (1,500 square feet) creative center where various sewing classes and special events are held (over 100 per month). Other unique features are a kids’ play area, a spouse lounge (dubbed The Bunkhouse), and a free coffee machine!
We have a very wide range of fabric, including modern, batiks, flannels, blenders, reproductions, civil war, novelty, kids, florals, and much more! We also carry BERNINA, Brother, Janome, Baby Lock, Pfaff, Handi Quilter, and Bernette machines.

“It had been a long time since I had touched a sewing machine. When I retired I promised myself I would start sewing again and focus on quilting. The staff in all areas have been kind and helpful, from choosing a machine to classes and fabric selection.”

Please tell us about your staff.
We have a talented group of employees we call the “QB Creators” who create their own designs. Rebecca Fry makes all sorts of wool designs and patterns to go with them, Annika (Autumn and Lore) creates quilt and bag patterns, Kate Swann designs her own modern-retro fabric lines, Grace (Chunky Bird Studio) who thinks up cool stuffed animal & garment patterns, and Wendell who makes fun embroidery designs.
Please tell us about any upcoming special events at your store.
We have over 100 classes a quarter, ranging from beginner quilting classes to advanced project classes. We also host several events a year, including our popular QB Elves, embroidery events, and machine events.

When asked about the impact of the LQS Contest on their store, The Quilting Bee said:
The contest brought a lot of new visitors to our website. Our customers really loved voting for us and we loved seeing their thoughts about the store!
I can find pretty much anything that I need for items that I make. I am not a quilter, but I make bags and other items from quilting cotton. Love this establishment.
Love the Quilting Bee!!!
